Course Details
Sessions will take place in a relaxed classroom environment, with plenty of resources for inspiration.
1. Prepare and roll the clay:
Take a piece of air-dry clay and knead it well until it becomes soft and pliable. Using a rolling pin, roll out a slab approximately 57 mm thick on a flat surface.
2. Create the main body:
Cut out a rectangle from the slab this will become the body of the kiln. Carefully wrap it into a cylinder and join the edges by gently pressing them together.
3. Form the cone-shaped top:
Roll a separate cone of clay and gently attach it to the top of the cylinder.
4. Add the base:
Cut a round piece of clay and attach it to the bottom of the kiln.
5. Carve the door and brick texture:
Using a plastic knife or clay tool, cut out an arched doorway.
6. Drying, painting, and varnishing.
