Course Summary
This AIM of this course is to provide learners with the core knowledge, skills and understanding needed to introduce to clay as a creative medium. It offers a safe and supportive environment for adults to develop basic hand-building skills, explore artistic self-expression, and gain the confidence to progress to a three-week ceramics course.
Course Details
By the end of this 3-hour beginners� workshop, learners will be able to:
Explore clay as a creative material through tutor-led demonstrations of basic hand-building techniques including different methods.
Develop and apply practical clay skills by creating a small functional or decorative object to take home.
Build confidence in creative expression by working in a supportive, inclusive environment designed for adults with little or no prior experience.
Engage in collaborative reflection through guided discussion and sharing of ideas within the group.
Increase personal wellbeing and sense of achievement by completing a tangible creative task and participating in a mindful, hands-on activity.
Recognise local cultural identity by connecting their clay experience to the ceramic heritage of Stoke-on-Trent.
Identify next steps for progression by receiving information about further opportunities in creative courses, volunteering, or adult learning pathways.
