Course Summary

Do you want a career in science � from biomedical, to forensic or environmental science? Then the Access to HE Diploma (Science) could be the course for you. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of core scientific principles, preparing them for undergraduate studies.

Course Details

This a Level 3 qualification which is designed to give students a direct progression route into the following science or science related degrees, forensic science, chemistry, biology, environmental science, pharmacy, ophthalmology, chiropractor, biomedical science, natural sciences, sports and exercise sciences, physical sciences. We will help you to�develop research skills and the ability to gather, analyse and report on complex scientific data. Science graduates are highly employable, both in specialist areas such as forensic investigation, but also in other associated fields requiring an enquiring, scientific and legal mind.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Our expert and enthusiastic team can chat to you to see what type of role you would like to progress into and are on hand to prepare, guide, and support you to be in your chosen field. There are no formal examinations within this course as all your coursework will be assessed through essays, reports, case studies, as well as practical elements. You will be given plenty of advice to help you develop your academic skills so that you will be fully prepared to take on a university degree or higher degree apprenticeship. The course will be delivered over three days each week between core hours 09:30-2:30pm.

Entry requirements

You are required to have a Grade 4 /Level 2 Functional skills in both GCSE English and GCSE Maths. In addition many universities will also insist on a GCSE Science at grade 4 or above, therefore we highly recommend applicants also hold this prior to the start of the course. During the interview process, you will receive an in-depth one to one interview where you will discuss any other qualifications and or industry experience, along with advice and guidance as to the programme best suited for you. It is essential that prepare for your interview by researching the entry requirements for your future degree course as this varies from course to course.If you don't meet the entry requirements for Level 3 study you may be eligible for the L2 Preparation for Access course.
