Course Details

This course provides you with high quality, industry recognised qualifications that help you to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to work as a professional in the IT sector. The programme begins with an introduction to using IT tools to communicate and exchange information safely, securely and effectively and looking at the available professional IT job roles. You will then have the opportunity to develop specialist understanding and skills in installing and maintaining computer systems or software development and automated computer systems, depending on which strand you choose.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is assessed through a variety of methods, which will include written assignments, group and individual presentations, role play, practical observations, poster presentations and oral questioning. On most of the units assessments take place throughout the course so you will not have to face any final exams.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs grade E-G, Entry Level 3, or another relevant Entry Level qualification.

Equipment required

On successful completion of this course you will achieve a BTEC Level 1 Diploma. Our level 1 and level 2 IT course aim to provide a range of skill sets for our learners. We offer Web development, programming, hardware and software, and networking units. In addition to this, at level 1 we aim to offer fundamental skills which focus on things like being organised, developing a personal plan, and how to research.

Your next steps...

If you achieve a pass on the course you will be able to progress to a Level 2 Diploma in IT or a related subject. Alternatively you could progress to an Apprenticeship programme.
