The Level 3 Diploma in Site Joinery (Carpentry) is designed for learners who want to develop specialist skills and knowledge to work as Site Carpenters in the construction industry. This qualification can be completed without being employed and allows students to demonstrate practical skills alongside the essential theoretical understanding required for the sector.�Supported by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF), the course equips learners with fundamental and transferable skills, preparing them for employment or career progression within site carpentry. Key topics covered include health, safety and welfare in construction, carrying out first and second fixing operations, operating cutting and shaping machinery, analysing technical information and quantities, understanding the construction industry and built environment, erecting complex structural carcassing components, and installing structural and non-structural components.�The course is delivered using a variety of methods tailored to learner needs, including classroom instruction, real work environment experience, investigative projects, e-learning, and self-study. How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment includes multiple-choice exams, written questions, and practical synoptic testing. The timing of these assessments varies according to each learner�s individual progression, allowing flexibility to demonstrate skills and knowledge as they develop throughout the course.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of four or more high grades at GCSE in subjects relevant to the course you�d like to study, including maths and/or English Language at grade 4 or above. Alongside your course you can study Maths or English if you do not achieve a grade 4 at GCSE.
