Level 2 Diploma - Introducing Caring for Children and Young People

This qualification provides the knowledge and understanding needed to care for children and young people. It is designed for learners who are interested in starting a career in childcare, early years or education. The diploma is broader than the Level 2 Award or Certificate, as it covers more units in greater depth, preparing you for progression into further study, apprenticeships or employment.

You will complete a wide range of units, which may include: The development of children and young people from birth to 19 years Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people The importance of play for early learning and development Supporting children and young people�s positive behaviour Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults Supporting children�s health and safety Supporting learning through play and activities This course develops your understanding of how to support children�s wellbeing, learning and development in a variety of settings.

How is it assessed? Coursework and written assignments Portfolio of evidence Continuous tutor assessment (no final exam)

No formal qualifications required, though completion of a Level 1 course may be helpful A genuine interest in working with or supporting children and young people Commitment to attendance and participation Initial assessment in English and maths may be required

Equipment needed Basic stationery (pens, paper, folder) Access to a computer for research and assignments

After completing this qualification, you can progress to: Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprenticeships in childcare or playwork Other vocational qualifications in education, health or social care
