Course Summary
Functional Skills English qualifications are designed to give you the practical reading, writing and communication skills you need for work, study and everyday life. They are recognised by employers, colleges and apprenticeship providers as alternatives to GCSEs. These qualifications focus on real-life English skills you can use with confidence.
Course Details
You will develop skills in three main areas:
Reading � understanding different types of texts, picking out key information, comparing ideas and presenting evidence
Writing � writing clearly and accurately, spelling, punctuation and grammar, structuring texts for different audiences and purposes
Speaking, Listening and Communicating � taking part in discussions, giving short presentations, listening and responding to others
The course helps you gain confidence in using English in real-life and workplace situations.

Speaking, Listening and Communicating: practical assessment carried out by your tutor
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications required
