Course Summary
Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications are designed to give you the practical maths skills you need for work, study and everyday life. They are recognised by employers, colleges and apprenticeship providers as alternatives to GCSEs. These qualifications focus on real-life maths that you can apply with confidence in different situations.
Course Details
You will develop skills in three main areas:
Using numbers and the number system � working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages
Measures, shape and space � understanding units of measure, working with perimeter, area and volume, and interpreting shapes and diagrams
Handling data � collecting and organising information, interpreting charts and graphs, and using probability
The course will help you apply maths in everyday and workplace scenarios such as handling money, budgeting, measuring, interpreting information and problem-solving

A single external exam covering all areas of the course
Questions are practical and problem-solving in style
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications required
Initial assessment will determine whether you start at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2
