Level 1 Award in Employability Skills

The Level 1 Award in Employability Skills helps learners build confidence, improve communication, and develop key workplace skills. It prepares individuals for further training or employment by focusing on teamwork, problem-solving, and job-seeking strategies, supporting personal growth and readiness for today�s competitive job market.�

The Level 1 Award in Employability Skills is designed for 16�18-year-olds (up to 24 with an EHCP) aiming to enhance key learning and development skills to improve progression opportunities and identify future career pathways. It supports learners wishing to explore vocational careers, progress into further post-16 vocational studies, traineeships, apprenticeships, or supported internships. The course focuses on developing life and employability skills, boosting confidence, independence, problem-solving, resilience, communication, and social skills. It includes continuous study of digital, maths, and English skills alongside two main pathways: the Employability qualification and Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA), which personalizes learning to meet individual needs. Project-based learning (PBL) fosters creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Initial assessment takes place over several weeks, tailored to each learner�s needs, identifying strengths and areas for development through various methods to set starting points. Students complete a portfolio assessed through speaking, listening, reading, writing, project-based learning, video, and photographic evidence, with opportunities to achieve nationally accredited qualifications or meet individual targets.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. All students are considered on an individual basis and matched to a course that best meets their needs and supports their outcomes, helping them progress toward their aspirations.
