Course Summary

Taught sessions will be a combination of theory, practical activities, work shops,discussions and presentations to meet the needs of all learners. You will be required to undertake a work placement for 2 days a week where you will be assessment on your practical work skills.

Course Details

This programme aims to prepare students to work in a supervised role within the health sector. There are two aims which allow learners to develop their knowledge of the health sector. The prevention and control of infection and the certificate in working in the health sector. It is a good base from which to progress into an apprenticeship.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Work in college will focus on the theory side of the couse where modules will be studied and a range of assessment methods such as assignments, practical work and case studies are used to assess your knowledge. All work will be internally assessed and moderated in college to check that learners are aiming to achieve the best possible standards.You will be expected to complete some hours of directed study guided by the staff.Practical hands on experience takes place in a variety of settings where you will also gain skills for employment.

Entry requirements

Four grades 3's at GCSE ideally in English and Maths. An appropriate level 1. A clear DBS check.

Equipment required

Topics include communication skills, service improvement, Equality and Diversity as well as Health and Safety.English and Maths will also form an important part of your study programme as these are skills we use in all aspects of our study, work and everyday life.

Your next steps...

On successful completion of the course learners may be able to progress to an Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare, Level 3 in Health and Social Care or into employment with training as a care assistant.
