Course Details

This course is for students wishing to gain a motor vehicle qualification. The course covers both practical and theoretical aspects of vehicle systems repair and maintenance. It provides a foundation in aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair. All subjects have a practical content, which is carried out in a workshop environment, whilst underpinning knowledge is delivered either in the classroom or in our computer aided learning resource centre (autotronics). How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course requires students to demonstrate their skills by successfully completing practical assessments and answering online theory questions for all the units that make up the qualifications.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade D or above. BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

Equipment required

The IMI is a nationally recognised vocational qualification which provides the background knowledge and skills in a specific work related area. City and Guilds courses are arranged in a series of modules which can be credited individually or combined with other modules to form certificates and diplomas.
