Course Details

This qualification provides students with knowledge and understanding of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours required across a range of engineering occupations. The qualification covers core knowledge and skills required for entry to the engineering and manufacturing sectors. The qualification is obtained by completion of one mandatory unit and six optional units. Mandatory Unit: Engineering Environment Awareness Six options will be chosen from: Engineering Mathematics Electrical and Electronic Principles Engineering Maintenance Techniques Fabrication and Welding Principles Fitting and Assembly Techniques Manual Turning Techniques Manual Milling Techniques Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) CNC Machining

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Methods used are: On-screen multiple choice examinations Centre-marked written and practical assessments Awarding Body Examinational and assessment criteria

Entry requirements

Achievement of at least one of the following GCSE grades is the minimum entry requirement for the course: English 4/C Maths 4/C In addition GCSE grade 3 minimum is preferred in the following GCSEs: Science/Technology/Electronics

Equipment required

You will need the correct PPE for this course, including a hi vis jacket and steel toe cap footware. You will also need pens, pencils and workpad/notebook plus City and Guilds text book. Candidates must be prepared to take on challenges and put in the extra mile to achieve this qualification. It needs dedication and full commitment.
