Painting & Decoration Level 1

This course teaches the essential basics of painting and decorating, including how to hang and finish wallpaper, apply water-based and solvent-based finishes, and create specialist decorative effects. You’ll spend most of your time in the workshop developing hands-on skills using professional tools and materials. The course also covers key theory such as health and safety, good working practices, and preparation for employment in the construction industry. You’ll gain an understanding of how painting and decorating fits into the wider construction sector and develop the knowledge you need for success on site or in further training. It’s a great foundation if you’re aiming to progress to a Level 2 qualification, an Apprenticeship, or eventually start your own decorating business. Minimum of 2 GCSEs grade 2 or 2 GCSEs at grade 1 along with successful interview prior to enrolment.
