Science T Level

This course provides the knowledge and experience needed to progress onto an apprenticeship, employment, or higher education. You will be assessed across both years through a variety of methods. Course Overview

T Level Science will build both your scientific knowledge and your ability to work confidently in a laboratory. Over two years at Sixth Form College, you will develop a wide range of practical skills, learn how to carry out experiments effectively, and evaluate your results. You will also strengthen important skills such as maths, digital literacy, and other transferable skills that will prepare you for the workplace.

Year 1

• Core A – The Health & Science sector
• Core B – Scientific concepts
• ESP – Scenario based project

Year 2

• Performance outcome 1: Perform a range of appropriate scientific techniques to collect experimental data in a laboratory setting, complying with regulations and requirements.
• Performance outcome 2: Plan, review, implement and suggest improvements to scientific tasks relevant to a laboratory setting.
• Performance outcome 3: Identify and resolve issues with scientific equipment or data errors.

Technical Qualification – 80% (100% External Assessment)
Industry Placement – 20%

You’ll study across all areas of science, developing your knowledge while building strong technical skills. Successful students are confident communicators, willing to share ideas, present findings, and discuss issues with others. This course opens the door to a wide range of university courses, apprenticeships, and career pathways. Many of our students progress into areas such as Pharmacy, Marine Biology, Radiology, Biomedical Science, and Forensic Science. With the practical skills, problem-solving ability, and confidence you gain here, you’ll be well prepared for higher education or employment in the science and health sectors.
