Course Details

This is a roll-on, roll-off qualification that is commenced at anytime during the year. Designed for electrical professionals, consultants and engineers who are responsible for the electrical design, specification, installation and testing process, this qualification provides an opportunity for electricians to take electrical design to the next level.� The Level 4�course is an advanced course that offers in-depth theoretical training in electrical design and cable calculations. It offers anyone with an existing testing qualification the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, allowing for greater potential career development particularly in electrical supervision and design. During the course, learners will develop�an understanding of the concepts, processes and practices involved with the design, construction and initial verification of electrical installations. The emphasis is on the safe and ergonomic design on an installation which complies with relevant regulations; industry standards, and sound engineering practices. Course units include: Relevant statutory and non-statutory requirementsElectrical installation designInstallation methodsVerification procedures Design, installation and verifications are in line with the requirements of BS 7671.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The assessment of this qualification involves the following two aspects: 1) An EAL set centre marked project 2) A written controlled knowledge assessment which is graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Fail. The course will be delivered in five days across a three week period (Weeks 1 & 2 - Monday and Tuesday and week 3 - one day only).�There will be an additional fee of �155 + VAT to cover materials and books.

Entry requirements

This qualification is suitable for learners who have successfully complete either the EAL or City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or similar. It is recommended that you also possess the 18th Edition Requirements of Electrical Installations (BS7671) and a suitable Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations qualification.
