Course Summary
Advance your engineering skills with our Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations. Build a solid foundation across mechanical and electrical disciplines while developing practical competence and confidence. You�ll apply core engineering concepts to real tasks and projects, preparing you for next-step study or entry into industry. As part of the course, you will visit engineering companies to find out more about real-life Engineering in a range of settings. You will also complete a short period of work experience.
Course Details
The course is made up of practical and theory units designed to give breadth and confidence in engineering practice. You�ll develop workshop skills (e.g. safe hand processes and welding) alongside the essential foundations of electrics (including wiring, testing and underpinning principles). Emphasis is placed on safe systems of work, problem-solving, and applying technical information. English will be studied where required, and learners complete a short period of relevant work experience.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will complete a range of practical projects and will be assessed and monitored throughout the year. You will also compile a portfolio of work to evidence your learning and progress. Where required, short tests and assignments support the development of English skills.
Entry requirements
As a condition of being offered a place on this course, you would be expected to meet the following entry requirements:Submit a school report showing your attendance, behaviour and effort details.You will need to achieve/have achieved GCSEs at grade 4 or above in Maths and a grade 3 or above in English Language.

After completing the course you will be well prepared to progress into employment with a local company as an engineering apprentice (a suitable placement is required), or onto further full-time Engineering study. Your balanced foundation across mechanical and electrical topics supports routes into manufacturing, maintenance and other technical roles.
