Course Details
The aim of the course is to provide a programme of training leading to a nationally recognised professional qualification for individuals who would like to work within the beauty and make-up industry.
During the course, you will cover a range of units including facial skincare, photographic make-up, make-up application, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, applying skin tanning, body art and nail art. Hair units covered are dressing hair, consultation, shampooing, plaiting and twisting.
The study programme will also incorporate industry placement to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This is a one year full-time course where you will learn through a mixture of practical and theory lessons. You are continually assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of work. Practical assessments will be observed by your assessor on a selection of clients. Exams will be completed by online tests.
Entry requirements
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and maths. However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at your course discussion appointment.�The course is open to men and women from the age of 16 upwards and is predominantly aimed at students wishing to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair & Media Make-up.Full-time study is one academic year, number of days in college depends on your English and maths requirement which will also be enhanced during your programme via work related studies. 16-18 year olds who don't have grade 4 will be able to resit their GCSEs. 19 plus do not require GCSE to enrol. �Industry placement is part of the full time study programme. Previous accreditation may reduce the amount of learning required within this programme. You will learn by working in one of the training salons to develop your skills and carrying out assessments in our commercial salon on clients.
