Course Details
The Pearson Level 3 National Extended Certificate (AAQ) in Medical Science provides an in-depth study of the principles and applications of medical science. Throughout this two-year course, you will explore three mandatory units along with one optional unit in a specialist area. This qualification builds fundamental knowledge while developing practical and investigative skills through internal and external assessments.

Course Content
Human Physiology, Anatomy, and Pathology: Explore human body systems, cell ultrastructure, and the transport of substances within the body.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course is assessed through a variety of means, including internally assessed unit assignments (moderated by Pearson), externally assessed unit assignments and two external exams (one in each year). The units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction and, for the internally assessed units could take a variety of forms. These include practical tasks and presentations to research or practical reports. The assessments are designed to provide you with a broad range of skills, which will ensure you are thoroughly prepared for your progression route after college.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5 and above including Science, Maths and English Language. Preferably, with a grade 6 in Biology or 6/5 in combined Science.
