VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies

The course covers a variety of treatments carried out by a Beauty Therapist, including: support the health, safety and security of the salon environment, enhance the appearance of the eyebrows and lashes, provide facial skin care treatments and manicure and pedicure services, plus other beauty maintenance treatments. As part of your study programme alongside your chosen course you will complete a maths and/or English GCSE if you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above. The study programme will also incorporate industry placement to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship.Full-time study is one academic year, number of days in college depends on your English and maths requirement which will also be enhanced during your programme via work related studies. 16-18 year olds who don't have grade 4 will be able to resit their GCSEs. 19 plus do not require GCSE to enrol. �Industry placement is part of the full time study programme. Previous accreditation may reduce the amount of learning required within this programme. You will learn by working in one of the training salons to develop your skills and carrying out assessments in our commercial salon on clients.

You are continually assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of work. Practical assessments will be observed by your assessor on a selection of clients in our commercial salon. External exams are online tests.

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above to include English and maths. However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at your course discussion appointment.The course is open to men and women from the age of 16 upwards. You need to possess a high level of interest in beauty, and the ability to work with other people.

You can progress onto a Level 3 course in Beauty Therapy, an Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy or into paid employment.
