Course Summary

Classical Civilisation is a fascinating combination of literature, ancient history, cultural studies and politics. You’ll study the epics of Homer populated with mighty heroes, memorable heroines, powerful deities and fearsome monsters as well as learning about real life historical figures such as Julius Caesar, Emperor Augustus, Mark Antony and the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra.

Furthermore, we explore the beliefs and rituals of the Ancient Greeks where blood sacrifice was the norm, and a range of festivals bound society together. You’ll develop skills in interpreting primary sources and critical analysis as well as honing written and verbal communication skills – all highly desired by employers.
