Our level 2 understanding children and young people�s mental health course develops the skills needed to understand mental health conditions that affect people, the legislation and guidance surrounding mental health, risk factors that may affect mental well-being and the impact that mental health concerns may have on young people and others.During the online course you will learn:Unit 1: Understand children and young people�s mental health in contextLearn about the concept of mental health and how society�s view of mental health has changed over time. Discover the legislation in place to support mental health.Unit 2: Understand factors which may affect children and young people�s mental healthThis unit uncovers the risk factors that can affect young people�s mental health and how these can be mitigated. Explore developmental changes and how puberty can impact mental health.Unit 3: Understand children and young people�s mental health concernsDiscover the behaviours displayed that may indicate a mental health concern. Find out about common mental health conditions that affect children and young people.Unit 4: Understand the impact of children and young people�s mental health concernsInvestigate the impact of mental health concerns on children, young people and others and develop an understanding of the importance of diagnosis and the reasons why children and young people may be reluctant to seek a diagnosis.Unit 5: Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concernsHere you will explore person-centred approaches to supporting children and young people with mental health concerns, how to promote mental well-being, and the services and treatment involved with children mental health.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This is an online learning course and will require the learner to commit to self study hours in order to complete the assessments.Each learner will be assessed via interactive online resources and end of unit assessment questions. Assessments must be completed in the agreed timescale and submitted to the assessor who will then provide feedback, advice and guidance, and, additional support where needed.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you should have a good level of reading and writing skills.
