Course Details
The course will run over approximately 12 months. Training and assessment will be in the workplace, and arranged with the assessor.The course consists of nine core units. As well as core units, you will complete at least one Specialist Knowledge unit and a selection of Optional units relating to your work role.Core Units include:CommunicationHealth, Safety & wellbeing. Role of a Care Worker.Information Handling Personal developmentsDuty of care / safeguarding Equality & Diversity�Optional units include:Move and positioningSupport the use of medication in social care settingsEnd of lifeInfection control�and many moreA total of 58 credits are required to achieve the Diploma. Evidence is produced from a number of methods e.g. workbooks, professional discussion etc (knowledge) and working practices for example observations (performance). All are designed to allow you to demonstrate your role and develop skills required in this highly sensitive area.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment will take in the workplace through a range of direct observations, professional discussions, Q/As, case studies and written evidence, including witness statements of work roles already carried out. Recognised prior learning will also be used to meet the criteria where applicable.
Entry requirements
There are no formal qualifications required to do the course. However a Level 2 NVQ or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care would be an advantage. A good general level of education and literacy would also be beneficial. Also to be in a work role to support the level of the qualification.
