Course Summary

Imagine asking: What can I truly know? What makes something right or wrong? Do I have a mind separate from my body? Where does the universe come from? Why is there something rather than nothing? Philosophy is all about exploring these big, exciting questions.

It teaches you to think deeply and clearly – learning how to build logical arguments, analyse complex ideas, challenge assumptions, and write persuasively. You’ll develop the ability to untangle tricky problems, see different perspectives, and present balanced, well-reasoned conclusions.

Course Details

  • Epistemology (questions about the nature of reality and the limits of human knowledge): Are our senses more reliable than my mind? Do atoms really exist? Is there anything that we can be certain of? How do I know that I am not dreaming everything?
  • Moral Philosophy: Do our intentions or the consequences of our actions matter more? Can we agree on what it means to be a good person? Is it wrong to eat meat? Does it matter if I play violent video games? Are there real facts about morality or is it all a matter of opinion?
  • Philosophy of Religion: Can the existence of God be proved? Does the beauty of the world prove God? Does the evil in the world disprove God? If God really can do anything, can He create a stone too heavy for him to lift?
  • Philosophy of Mind: Is the mind the same thing as the brain or do we have a soul? Can I know if other people have minds? Is my mind a computer? Is AI really intelligent?
