It is an ideal course for students interested in how substances interact and change, and for those considering careers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, or engineering.
Course Details
There are three topics, Unit 1: Physical Chemistry, Unit 2: Inorganic Chemistry and Unit 3: Organic Chemistry. These are all taught over two years.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment is entirely exam-based, with three written papers at the end of Year 13: Paper 1: Physical and Inorganic Chemistry, Paper 2: Physical and Organic Chemistry, Paper 3: Synoptic content and practical skills. Competency in practical skills is assessed over the two years and reported as Pass / Fail.
